Eternal Embrace

Venus and The Sailor, 1925, by Salvador Dali

Eternally entwined
In a saltation divine,
Captured mid-step
By a genius adept.

Venus, with your glamour,
I am truly enamoured
To be evermore en-laced
In your glorious embrace.

Miscommunication

Friendship, love, compassion -- Simply basic understanding and acceptance. How do we so often complicate, unintentionally, Our sacred, simple sanctuous connections? Twisted and contorted, the words set out in discourse, Turned into landmines and barbed wire to snare. Can words not be just taken at face value? Language - thousands of years yet still imperfect. Is it better to say nothing? Better to not communicate? Better to isolate? A different kind of pain. Isolation - silence is not golden. Which is worse?

The Circus With the Yellow Clown, 1967, Marc Chagall
The life of a circus clown... so happy, so gay.
How much better than this can it get, you say?
My lot in life is to entertain without fail.
Night after night... no repose, no curtail
Frock of frills in a carefree yellow hue
Hides my true colour inside which is blue.

The Bounty

The Meal, 1891, by Paul Gauguin
Our stomachs pang for nutrition;
Our muscles, skin and bones, proper sustenance.

Our tongues want for the succulent flavours;
Our noses, the decadent aromas.

Our eyes search for the vibrant colours,
Our fingers, the variants of texture.

No matter how bountiful the harvest, however,
There is nothing more nourishing than the company
of beloved family and friends.

Ink Well

Magpie Photo Prompt 115

Inside a vitreous vault of expression
I sit pondering my previous
"masterpieces".

Completely bared to the world
all that I am.
What have I to hide?

So much more to share
before the winds of time
evaporate what remains
of my creative fluids.

Clear, that I may choose any hue
to paint my scene,
from docile blues
to vibrant greens
to passion-filled reds.

Never shall the lid be laid
as I have hidden it well
lest my freedom be contained once more.

Keeper of the Belly Button Lints

image: ParkeHarrison
There once was a man name of Vince,
who was tasked with the keeping of lints,

From the navel of a giant -
a very fussy client,

Who's been quite content ever since.

Happy April Fool's Day!!

The Real Me

image: Duane Michals
Why, when people look upon my visage,
It is only one facet that they see?

More than simply meets the eye
Clearly there is to me.

I gaze into my looking glass
And this is what I see...

A simple living human being
With more complexity.

The Demise of Daylight Savings

Magpie Tales Photo Prompt 109

image: Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison
David was always
a meticulous public servant.
Years he has devoted
to calculations and derivations.
So intricate and complex,
the inner movements of time,
he toils through
the dawn trying to get it just right.

"Just a slight bit more,"

he sighs as he nudges
the works with pseudo-surgical precision.
His life work nearing fruition,
the demise of daylight savings time.

Cognitive Cataracts

Bleary images
of warm sunny days
when everything seemed
so perfectly clear.

Times spent frivolously
with no vision
for the future.

Now looking back,
pining to return
to those carefree moments.

Cognitive cataracts
smudging the warm
vibrant colourful memories
into leaden obscurity.

Is it time,
circumstance
or age
that clouds the senses?

Imperfect Perfection

Beth's Perfect Apple
From the mind,
from the heart,
and from the hand
of a child,
comes such imperfect perfection.

Their minds so clear and unjaded,
able to see the world
with all it's vibrant colours.

To see and to be comfortable
with all the minor flaws inherent
in all things and yet still see their beauty
is next to divine.

Unto us on this earth
God bestows his precious angels
to remind us of how perfect imperfection is.

PERSPECTIVE

Try to disguise who one really is inside.
Image by Sarolta Ban, courtesy of Tess Kincaid of The Magpie Tales
The unceasing glare of eyes larger than life
piercing into one's very soul.
There is no hiding, no refuse.
A never-ending silent inquisition.
Is it real or only in the mind,
our societal superiority complex?
Can one not just be themselves in front of one set
of loving, omniscient eyes alone?

Yearning

The Mag 106

Every day
From afar
I look at your beauty
Longingly.

Oh if I could one day
Just muster the courage
To saunter down your aisle.

Heaven knows
I have enough broth.

I yearn for your love's
Warm nourishment more.

Neon Oasis

I can see you in the distance
So close, so far.

Longing to hear the sound of your voice
Which was slowly fading into the shadows of my mind.

Only hours away...
I need you now.

Godsend neon oasis of contact
In the wasteland of my mind.

Finally I can hear you.

If only I could touch you, hold you...

Smouldering Ember

Mag 104 magpietales.blogspot.com   (Tess Kincaid)

Blazing opalescent alabaster glow,

A searing intensity in sharp contrast

Poised to burn in a blaze for eternity

Fueled by the invigorating breath of life.

Without flame - no heat, no light.

Without fuel - no flame, no life.

The Final Lesson

http://magpietales.blogspot.com/

"Mine" learns the young toddler as he discovers his world.

"Yours" as the youngster discovers that he is not alone in this world.

"Ours" as two realize they cannot survive on their own in their world.

"Mine" as God gently asks for the return of that which was graciously lent while in His world.

Your Smiling Face

I was thinking about how
we humans subconciously
react to recognition
of familiar people.
We cannot stop the reaction
as it is built in.

As I thought of this,
images of your facial
expression of delight
when you see me from afar
flashed in my head
and gave me such
warm feelings.
A reaction built into
the receiver of the acknowledgements.

Your beauty fills me
With such strong emotion.

I love your smiling face...
